This Gainsborough powder puff compact was my Grandmas, and my Mom has calculated the year it was bought, it may be a year or two off, but is dated as close as we could.
The first picture is probably the best most accurate one, just can't seem to get a handle on what my camera is doing.
I seen a few other ones but they have less hinge joint sections.
Five pointed star, rhinestones, might be mother of pearl but I do not know what the deco layer surface is made out of.
On one picture you see the mirror with blemish streaks, is not on the top surface.
The brass has some worn areas, must be held in the light too see them better.
The closure and hinge mechanisms working very good.
The back has a dulled scuff mark.
The powder puff itself strap-band is worn, has tear from normal use or age.
The powder cake itself is hard and moves around inside.
I measure 2 inches side to side and 3/4 inches high.
This seems to be a hard to find vintage item, and in my opinion the condition is very good for it's age.
Gainsborough was sold from 1922-1941.
