I bought this as refurbished in 1995, for old computers, External CD ROM 3X Drive with a power switch. You don't need to run a CD ROM reader all the time was one thing I liked.
Did Not test SCSI functions or hooked up to a SCSI board to a system, you need to have a compatible or a good SCSI card, for DOS Windows 95 era..
There is no Driver disk I don't think it needs one, just another drive. On old systems SCSI can be tricky, but when it works, it works.
For testing I just inserted a regular audio CD. It loads the caddy quite quick. I hit play and listened with headphones.
Tested the repeat function and let play through 2 audio disks.
A quick tracking test is, bump it and see how it recovers, do that on the first track, and bump again on the last track, take note.
When I did that with this, it recovered right back to the note I bumped it on. Also the same results on the last track. So it seems the tracking is working.
Tested with audio CD only.
Those caddy's are like a big floppy disk, but instead it's a CD you put in the caddy.
The front facing picture is playing track 3 and running, the LCD readout never had a back-light.
Includes 6 things.
(1) 3X CD ROM reader SCSI.
(1) AC Line cord 6 foot, may not be the original cord.
(1) Instruction manual, specs, and settings.
(1) 3 Foot SCSI cable, original cable.
(1) The original CD Caddy. (it has scratches but works very good)
!!! SIDE NOTE, I am adding (1) another (not the original), caddy that has a scuff mark on top is Not shown in pictures.
I will be listing 3 more on a separate listing.
It was cool to own an external SCSI CD ROM back then. Selling AS IS, it may need cleaning, but I think I would leave it alone. Get your SCSI card working properly first, ! in DOS or Win95.
